The Art Of Mandala |thequiltproject|

Updated: Jul 26, 2020

This quarantine has made us aware of so many new aspects of life, urging us to come out of our comfort zone and making us conscious about the boundaries covering around. Due to the monotony of daily routine, sometimes we get stressed and gloomy. So, inspired by my circle of hope, I started working on my hobbies which can calm my mind and keep me hopeful in difficult times. I took it as a moment for intense personal growth and started doing meditation for peace and imagined some endless figures in my mind spiraling around a center. And I got the inspiration of mandala art from it.

Mandala is an artistic picture of this vast universe. It represents the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. The mandala purpose is to help transform ordinary minds into enlightened ones and to assist with healing. It represents an imaginary palace that is- contemplated during meditation. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the belief is that by entering the mandala and proceeding towards the center, you are, guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from one of suffering into one among joy and happiness.

Art making is an essential practice that can support our positivity and sense of wellbeing, expand our awareness, open ourselves to kindness and self-compassion, and deepen our connection to ourselves and others. Sometimes words aren't enough to precise what we all know deep within our core being. Mandala art gives us access and expands our self-awareness. Our emotions sometimes throw us into chaos and, nothing makes sense. At these times, we frequently got to find a middle amid the confusion, how to tug together the scattered parts of life, and find order.

If you meditate or draw a mandala mindfully, you can experience a relaxed and connected sense of being and feel that everything in life is, connected in some way. During these holidays I spent my time in exploring this beautiful art both digital as well the hand techniques to improve upon my skills.
